I absolutely would not call this a romance novel. I thought the first 3/4 of this was a realistic view of generational trauma and patterns of domestic abuse, and I did appreciate the relationship development and understanding between Lily and her mother . However, the ultimate resolution of the story in the epilogue is either missing too much information doesn't make sense with many of the concerns Lily has earlier in the book. I also would not say this was especially well-written though it was an engrossing read.
Graphic: Gun violence, Gore, and Domestic abuse
Moderate: Sexual violence and Sexual content
