DS Maddie Ives works undercover in Manchester but her latest operation did not end well and she’s being transferred to Langthorne in the south to work on missing persons. Her superiors tell her it’s for her own safety. Maddie and a young PC become concerned about a young woman, a recovering alcoholic, who has been missing for at least a week. When she mentions this to DI Harry Blaker he makes a connection to a case in Sussex. This book had me gripped from the beginning. Love the dynamic between Maddie and Harry and look forward to reading more about them. Hope this is the start of a long series!
