NVM. I'm crying at this author's note. I was going to give this 2.5/5 rating until I read that author's note. I really needed that. omg. I need to re-read this book again. All the points I made below are still valid but after reading the author's note, I understand it more. Thank you so much K. Ancrum for that, I really needed it.
I really should have loved this book...
It wasn't a romance. This book could have been amazing if it wasn't centered around a toxic romance. I loved the exploration of mental health, friendships, and a co-dependent toxic friendship but the romance was not cute. I wish it was expanded upon and shown their healthier side to justify their relationship. I just felt by the end sadness for both of the characters and no romance. I loved all the characters, the short chapters, and the mental health rep. I just felt like by the end this romance really wasn't explored and the changes that happened to the characters really should have changed that relationship. I really didn't want to see the romance at the end. What makes the book "dark" at the end fell flat for me. It didn't feel like anything was truly solved. I should have really loved this book but I really couldn't stand by the romance.
