Halfway through this book, I already knew it was 5 stars. I loved everything about this book: the characters, the story, the history weaved within the pages was amazing. It is honestly the perfect book to me-however I am a bit biased as my degree is in art history AND I love mysteries and ideas such as social class, race, and gender being discussed. I honestly don’t think there’s a good way to describe this book or what it is because it is so much and so many different things and ideas which are constantly happening and being thought of on each page. Davis creates this world in which you are truly pulled in, as if you were there in that moment arguing with these characters who are, for the most part,  based on themselves in history. I think what makes me truly love this book is that it’s something I’ve never seen done before, and I can’t imagine anyone else doing it with the same grace and artistry as Fiona Davis.
