This is the first in a new series which is an offshoot of Annabella's Souls of Chicago series and it's focusing on Micah Hamilton's security agency (Landon Greene's husband and subject of Book 3 [b:Protecting the Soul|33834422|Protecting the Soul (Souls of Chicago, #3)|Annabella Michaels|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1484094722s/33834422.jpg|54763713] and it directly ties into book 5 in the series [b:Uniting the Souls|36281317|Uniting the Souls (Souls of Chicago, #6)|Annabella Michaels|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1506028500s/36281317.jpg|57941953] as it focuses on the search for Isaac's missing brother Zane.

I liked this a lot, it was missing the overly dramatic elements which can sometimes pull down a plot narrative and instead, all the tensions were caused by believable issues of trust being damaged due to secrets being hidden (for perfectly valid reasons) for too long.

The relationship between Jeremy and Zach (aka Zane in hiding) was well developed and took a nice slow burn as they slowly got to know each other - even if Jeremy's reasons for trying to find out if Zach was Zane weren't revealed until the plot needed some tensions.

Overall this is really nice read, it's a sweet romance between two people who on paper shouldn't work but do. Jeremy is searching for the same happiness he sees in his friends who've settled down and Zane has been closed off because of his fears and past trauma for so long.

There is a really lovely ending and I truly believed in this couple's life long happiness. Great start to this new series.
