The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro
2.0

I love Ishiguro'w work. Most of his work. This, as I said in an earlier update, was a slog. A post-Arthurian "Waiting for Godot" without the comic relief. I found it frustratingly slow and the dialogue oddly mannered. Ishiguro uses unreliable narrators quite frequently but in this novel, in which everyone is unreliable due to the mist of forgetting that has encomapssed the land, the truth remains impenetrable throughout. Even as I write this I find a mist of not remembering descending upon me. In a month I imagine all I will really remember about this novel is how disappointed I was with it.
