Easy, Schmeasy is a low-angst, best friends to lovers (and idiots to lovers 😅), interracial romance. I am honestly glad I found out about this author because the author’s writing is right up my alley. There is low-angst between the couple (the title is very much fitting, at the beginning the men struggle with their feelings though), some angst outside their relationship and very interesting relationship development that took me by surprise. I normally do not read contemporary sports romance but the hurt/comfort won me over and I cannot complain. It delivered.

The two MCs have such strong feelings for each other that they will do anything to be together. I loved their worries and their communication. It made sense even if they changed their mind about things. They really felt human and… normal. There is no miscommunication or evading a problem. I love to see that in a romance - when they deal with issues as maturely as possible.

There is tons of spice. In the first part of the novel, most of it is off-page. But oh boy. Once we get to now… it just kept on coming (no pun intended lol) and it was just so hot and on-page. Tons of dirty talk, tons of detail and I was surprised I did not get bored by the spicy scenes.
The last chapter did feel rushed but the bonus content is available so I think it compensates for the missed scene or two.

Despite this being part of a series, I had no problems reading this as a standalone. There are established couples but nothing spoilery so even if the reader decides to read the previous books, they will not be robbed of the experience.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
