I enjoyed Eve's story far more than Chloe's but not nearly as much as Dani's. It's a very middle-of-the-road book for me. Nothing that really made it stand out but I also didn't dislike it.

It's the ultimate grump x sunshine trope and I enjoyed seeing how that played out. It's a trope I don't read super often because it's normally paired with enemies-to-lovers, which I dislike. However, it was done well in this book. Jacob is Luke Danes in Gilmore Girls level of grump. Eve is sunshine with a heavy side of inappropriate (irreverent, immature humor is kind of her thing). Their pairing was pretty comical at times.

I could relate to Eve in some ways, not really being sure what she wanted in life and what she was actually good at. However, her way of handling her friends and family (particularly at the beginning) really irritated me. I know the point was to show her growth in the end, but it just made her a bit unlikable, which was a bummer. I never really felt myself rooting for her.

Jacob was who stood out to me. Not only did he work to overcome his gruff exterior, but as is the case in most stories like these, he really had a heart of gold the whole time and the dual POV allowed us to see a glimpse into that even during the more challenging parts of the book. He also helps Eve understand her own mind better, which was really precious to watch.

The ending of the book was my favorite part because it included a decent amount of Chloe/Red and Dani/Zafir. They made the last few chapters extra entertaining. This story also made me really want to go to a B&B and enjoy some breakfast for dinner! I gotta get on that...

While I wouldn't pick this one up again, it was cute and fun (and steamy) so overall alright!
