Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye
4.0
If you love "Jane Eyre," and you have a dark sense of humor this is the book for you.
Lyndsay Faye shows us what may have happened to Jane Eyre had she said, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
One of my favorite lines is in the middle of the book when Jane Steele is have a particularly tough time dealing with her circumstances -- some not her fault; others, well --- . Anyway, the line is, "I supped on gin and melancholy."
I received a copy of this book from the publisher to prepare for an author interview, which can be found at http://wesb.com/on-demand.
