The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
5.0
I honestly really enjoyed this story. I loved Linus, loved hearing his thought process, watching him evolve and have his bubble "pop." I liked the contrast of gray & rain of his mundane city life versus the colorful & dreamy island life that was always calling to him. I loved all the unusual children and the world they were struggling in/with. The characters all complemented each other, worked well to portray their growing bonds, growing personalities, and also created some humor. I have a dark sense of humor and I laughed at Lucy & Talia the most. Linus' "oh, dear" moments with their dark commentary made me laugh out loud. I could really picture him. It was a sweet story, both heavy and light hearted at times, ending on a positive note. An easy read. Definitely added to my favs list for this year's reads.
