Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart
5.0

I’ve read a lot of averagely written books lately. From the very first page of this book, I was blew away. The descriptions of character and background were astonishing, it’s possibly one of the best written books I’ve ever read.

The story follows the main character Mungo and his struggle through kidulthood, dealing with themes of masculinity, relationships and trust on a Glasgow backdrop.

I have no words to express my love for this novel. The way it’s written is so different and the descriptions that other authors would make so plain are so grounded and constructed so well. I genuinely don’t have any criticisms for this book…

It’s heart warming at time and then gut wrenching at others.

I’d really recommend this book!
