Well plotted and interesting story.
Several seemingly unconnected murders or attempts but Big Ger Cafferty eventually makes the link with a remand home way back.
Rebus gets himself attached to the squad as a consultant. It would seem the great and the 'good' of Edinburg  may have had a lot to hide.
Meanwhile his old opponent Malcolm Fox is seconded to an undercover team investigating a Glasgow gangster mob. A turf war is in the offing.
Rebus has sort of taken Fox under his wing, a turn up for the books! And there's a stray dog!
