Say You Swear
by Meagan Brandy
emotional
slow-paced
Minor spoilers ahead
I listened to this book on audible and I am clearly in the minority with my rating. So take this for what it’s worth…
Let’s start with what was good:
1. The narrator for Ari put a voice to this character that felt real.
2. I was intrigued by the story until about 60% in.
3. I really liked Noah a lot.
4. I liked Ari even though she’s wasn’t always super mature (though she is only 18 so that should be expected).
Honestly this was likely a 3 or 4 ⭐️ until it wasn’t 😞.
What was a miss for me:
1. This was waaay too long, way!
2. The dragging plot for the last 40% almost made me DNF it.
3. It felt like Ari and Noah constantly repeated themselves over and over closer to the last 20%.
4.Chase is a complete ass and I can’t get on board with his and Ari’s closest friends (and her brother) allowing him to eff with her memory like he did in the last bit .
5.I found the entire amnesia plot not only unbelievable but painful.
6. Not a huge fan of the narrator for Noah.
7. This is a bit picky but I just can’t wrap my mind around why some chapters start as saying it’s Arianna’s POV and others as Ari’s POV (they are the same person) this is a really odd editing choice.
I think I might be way past college romances if this is what’s getting over 4 stars now.
