If you like a good ole fake dating trope than look no further this one is for you.

Olive makes it her mission to convince her best friend she is over her ex, but this is easier said than done she needs to appear to have moved on. Enter Adam her fake boyfriend. After Olive kisses him and proposes a crazy fake dating situation he agrees even to all her rules, like meeting for coffee once a week.

Things even seem to be looking up for Olive when she finally hears back from a professor at one of the many universities she’s reached out to so she can finish her research next year. And even more exciting her research her accepted and Olive is asked to speak at a science conference on a panel of other scientists.

Olive is terrified though. She doesn’t exactly do public speaking, but her advisor helps her through it. When prepping the recording to send to her advisor she and her friends over hear what one of the professors said to Olive.

At first she doesn’t want to do or say anything about it. But after realizing that Adam is interviewing to take a position in the same lab as the professor who tore Olive down she finds the courage to speak up, or at least the the recording speak for itself.

I absolutely adored this book and I know I say that a lot but hey what can I say sometimes I’m easy to please. I loved the execution of the fake dating romance and how it evolved over the course of the book. And the science back drop was so fun, but also really easy to follow if you’re not into science. I didn’t feel like anything was over explained, but just enough for a reader who’s not into science to be able to understand. And while the book doesn’t go too deep into this, but sets it in motion for the characters after the story wraps is dealing with the aftermath of what Olive experienced. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
