A History of My Brief Body by Billy-Ray Belcourt

4.0

I thought this was a really beautiful, attentive and special memoir. I really loved a lot of it and I'm glad I read it. It was hindered however, by writing that was too academic, strung out and looping to really serve its own purpose. there were so many sentences i had to read again and again just to figure out a semblance of what they were trying to say and by about halfway in it did feel a little like the author was writing a lot in this way simply to press the point that he'd read a lot of theory. I feel like a lot of the points made would have been far more potent if the language hadn't of been such a barrier.
