Significantly more of it's own thing than Eragon, and the pacing and plot drastically improves from the first installment. I think the only thing that really brought down the rating was that some of the chapters on Eragon's training kind of dragged. But this is still a very fun book, Roran's and Nasuada's chapters add a lot to the story, and I love seeing how the further this series goes on, the more it stands on its own. Also, Saphira is still my favorite dragon in all of literature ever.
