Abbie & Dylan dated but have been apart for over a year after a painful break up that left them both hurting.
They're both seperately en route to a friend's wedding over 800 miles away in Scotland, when fate intervenes and they end up having to share a car. Abbie, her sister Deb, Dylan, his friend Marcus, and Rodney, a wedding guest who asked for a lift to the wedding on Facebook, all pile into Deb's mini and make their way to the north.

On the way, the past is confronted in different ways and we go back and look at what went wrong in Abbie & Dylan's relationship. We also look at how Marcus played a part, and can I just tell you now, I do not like this man. I do not like him in the present, I do not like him in the past, I do not like him when we find out what role he played in the decline of the relationship, I do not like him, Sam I Am.

The Rodney stuff provided a bit of light relief when things got a bit heavier in the storyline (TW for sexual assault). The only gripe I had with this book, and the thing that stopped it being a 5* read for me, was that sometimes the characters sounded quite similar and I wasn't sure immediately if it was Abbie or Dylan's POV in some parts. Apart from that, I really enjoyed it and read it in one sitting despite it being a sizeable tome.
