i saw the movie beforehand and found it an enjoyable time. the concept of the OASIS and the intricacies of it were one/s that i wanted to further explore. the twinges of that curiosity were appeased, and for that i give it two stars. but from there this book felt very monotone. i never once felt weight or risk for the character, he always had some form of plot armor in the way of money, gear, or a very out of place appearance from (REDACTED) offering sanctuary. i felt that there were some good moments of growth and lessons learned from the character, but upon starting the sequel to this book, they were tossed out the window, so their stars had to
follow suit. a fun read at times, but at other times, one filled with pages of mind numbing nostalgia with no plot progression.
