I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the sequel to spears and shadows. Instead of being told in Nora and Adam’s POV, this was told in Odelle and Antony’s POV. At first I did not know how to feel about that, but it grew on me and I came to like it. One drawback is that there is a side plot of the miscommunication trope that takes up about half the book.  However, it is done in a good way and does not detract from the story. This book has some adult content such as swearing and sex. The sex scenes are a 1/5 for spiciness as they are more poetic than sexy and descriptive. I wish we got to see more of Antony’s POV in the modern day instead of just in the past. Overall, I liked the story and the characters. I did miss Nora and Adam as they were gone for most of the novel.
