An excellent first book in a large series. Great worldbuilding without ever being overbearing with exposition, a fantastic mystery, and a tonal and thematic shift at the halfway point that, even though it's signposted in the prologue, still managed to catch me off-guard. Extremely excited to see where this series goes.
