Okay this was SUCH a good mystery. I’ve heard great things about Julie Clark’s books but this was my first one. However I truly can’t wait to read more. I absolutely loved how this story was told. I honestly really enjoy mysteries where we get the deceased or the suspect’s point of view and in this one we get both. I stayed up waaay too late reading this one. I thought the story flowed really well and the premise of a daughter ghostwriting her novelist father’s memoir in which he details the night his siblings—who everyone thinks he killed—died was just so intriguing to me. There were also moments in this book that brought me to tears which absolutely never happens in a thriller. There are so many themes and elements in this book and I truly enjoyed it. I also guessed some things but didn’t guess others and I enjou that in a book. I also felt like the lead up to every reveal kept you guessing until the last possible second. Like for example there was one thing I did end up guessing correctly but even up until it was revealed I wasn’t sure if it might go another route. So that was fun. There was one scene that I just really did not like, even though I know why it was in the book and the purpose it served, and I know it’s petty but because of that one scene I’ve had a hard time deciding where this book falls to me. I think ultimately this will be a 5 star read, and even if it ends up a 4.5 it is still a book I would absolutely recommend!
