I definitely see the flaws in this book but I can't help but like it anyway. I've also seen the film before reading the book (illegal I know) which has impacted my reading experience. But I enjoy Highsmith's writing style and, I guess, the overall feeling of the novel. The characters are flawed and sometimes unlikeable, but that's just a testament to the universal parts of being human. And I think that's beautiful.
