Around the World in Eighty Days
by Jules Verne
I'm sure this book was absolutely amazing for its age and so I'll give it 5 stars. I wasn't bored reading it even though I knew the ending so I think it deserves those stars.
I've actually watched two variations of this as movies and I can say that the movies were quite faithful to the source if you exclude the constant fighting that made it more interesting as a movie.
I think this is one of those books that served as a way for people who never travel to broaden their horizons. You get to travel around the world by reading a nice book with nice characters.
Even the romance that may seem flat for us now makes sense for its time. It was a nice sweet addition to the story. From all the characters though, I think the detective and the servant are the most interesting. So, it was always a delight when they appeared.
