This is the first book I have read by this author, and I enjoyed it. I liked her writing style. I thought the characters felt real and the dialogue was authentic, without issues that pulled me out of the story. As this is a second chance, it is important to have the balance of the past, and their attraction, with the present and the reasons they have to be reluctant to get involved with one another.

Rhett and Monroe were together years ago, and life happened, he left to pursue dreams and he thought she did as well. But, as you discover along with Rhett, things didn't quite go as expected for either of them, and there were events and people who were instrumental in making sure that their relationship in the past ended when he left to pursue his career.

But, after he is injured, he returns home and realizes things are not as he has always thought, and that the connection he had with Monroe is not as in the past as he thought.

I liked the way this was balanced, and the way they each handled the emotions, the mix of glad to see the person, and wishing that you did not have to be around them...it felt very real, and it felt the way someone would handle this situation.

Most of all, I related to the characters. I believed in the story, in their actions, and I enjoyed the writing.

I recommend this title.
