Initially this book appeared to start out as a fairly standard road trip story, but then it suddenly took a completely different turn with the characters following their own paths entirely. The more metaphysical parts will probably be better understood when one has more knowledge of the Quran.
It was very interesting to read a story from the perspective of immigrant Muslim women, and reading this book has made me realise that this is a perspective I have neglected in my reading so far. I intend to read more diverse perspectives going forward.
