Completely harrowing and powerful. My knowledge on Korea during the wars is limited and so I'm unsure yet on the accuracy of this currently, however I learned an awful lot, and I would recommend this book to everyone for the history aspect alone.

It's mentioned that this book writes about the lost histories, but there are so, so many. From Koreans living in Japan, many situations women faced in this time, Christians under Shinto, HIV patients, disability, comfort women, it's an incredibly dense, rich book and truly eye-opening.

Aside from the historical aspects, the writing is beautiful and all the characters were gripping.
