Fernando Pessoa & Co.: Selected Poems
Fernando Pessoa & Co. is a book of enjoyable early 1900s Portuguese poetry. Pessoa records his observations of the natural world, the stars, and his feelings. He also writes down his philosophical thoughts about the gods and the soul. The poems remind me a bit of the writings of the Romantic era poets. A couple of my favorite lines from a poem written 8 July 1930: “May winter wrap earth and not our minds, / As love to love, or book to book, we relish / the brief warm fire.”
