A cute sequel to Anne of Green Gables, but it felt much like a second book in a trilogy or longer series, where the story is necessary to get to future events but isn't as particularly interesting. At the end of the first book, Anne gives up her scholarship to college and forms a friendship with Gilbert. Often this book hints at her going to college in the future or a future relationship with Gilbert, but both points are where the book ends. However "second-bookish" this feels, Anne still gets into plenty of scrapes with her friends and neighbors, for those who enjoy her escapades.
