The Lies of Vampires and Slayers by K.M. Shea

My rating:3.5 stars

This was a pretty good start to a new series in the Magiford Universe.

It contains a trope I enjoy, mistaken/secret identity. This will definitely lead to some more good antics in the next book, based on the last chapter of this one:)

I really like the main character, Jade. I think her social anxiety will be really relatable to to those of us that are more shy/introverted.
I'm looking forward to seeing how she will grow as the series continues.

As for the other main character, "Connor," is took awhile to like him. He felt rather one dimensional until about the last third of the book. Once I did connect to him, I liked him and wanted to know more about him.

Another thing I struggled to like was the pacing. The action scenes felt super repetitive and a bit anticlimactic, apart from the last big scene with the snake-like monster.
I wish some of the action scenes had been cut or condensed, so that we could have had more scenes with Jade interacting with her "Connor," her friends and co-workers.

While there are some things I didn't love, there is plenty to like and get excited about. I will be pickup the sequel as soon as its released!
