I am quite happy to have stumbled across Sleepless. I was taken aback by the cover (I LOVE Multicultural books) and knew I had to check it out. It is nicely detailed and sectioned into chapters.
We follow the life of Lady Poppy and her 24/7 knight Cyrenic, AKA a Sleepless. Her father has recently passed, leaving his brother to wear the crown. All she wants to do is get away from that place, yet the new king will not allow her to go anywhere.
Danger strikes when multiple assassin's try to kill Poppy. She assumes it's the king's nephew but will have to dig deep to find concrete evidence that he's guilty.
Towards the end, Poppy and Cyrenic feelings for each other are revealed when he admits he's going to end the king's nephews life, so that Poppy will no longer be in danger. It ends with Poppy breaking their vow (which has NEVER happened), Cyrenic falling into a deep sleep and Poppy clinging to his lifeless body sobbing💔. WHY IS EVERY BOOK I'M READING BREAKING MY HEART?!?!
Of course, I cannot wait to continue this series😊💛.
