Heartbreak Is the National Anthem: How Taylor Swift Reinvented Pop Music by Rob Sheffield
4.0
I feel I'm in the perfect target audience for this book: I enjoy Taylor's music whenever it's on, but certainly don't know her or her music enough to call myself me a Swiftie, or even close. This book does an excellent job of contextualizing how Taylor has risen to become to cultural icon she is today, and as she has been for the past many years. I especially love how crystal clear it is that the author is a massive fan, and how that let's him get away with his ruthless-at-times analysis of Taylor's dramatics; it's a very fun book.
