Interesting concept with a lackluster execution. I think this would've worked better as an anthology of story beginnings without the narrative tying them together which is where I feel like the story was at its weakest.
The 4th chapter (not Chapter 4, but Outside the Town of Malbork) helped to solidify for me what to expect from this book. Not all of the non-narrative stories were particularly interesting in my opinion either and we're a struggle to get through.
The story as a whole focuses on what it means to be a reader, what reading means, and what value that brings - if any.

Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship, Death, Violence, Murder, Alcohol, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Confinement, Sexual violence, Death of parent
There is some ambiguous sexual violence in Around An Empty Grave on page 225: "[...] it is not clear whether she is resisting me or drawing me on; I try to pull on her clothes; she defends herself, ripping away my buckles and buttons."
The scene made me uncomfortable with the choice of language the author used and the nonchalant attitude the character had towards the other character's reactions, but you may have a different perspective on the scene.
