The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera

3.0

There is a lot of sex in this book. I mean, a lot. Perhaps this is where whoever the author is of 50 Shades of Whatever got her inspiration. Now, this might peak your interest, but beware! It is mostly sex of the boring kind. You might wonder to yourself, whether such a thing exists, but it does. I know for sure after having read this book. The sex is of a literary kind where the loftier ideals of the act are focused on, rather than the pleasure and the emotional impact it has on the characters. The result is that a large portion of the book is rather... boring.
Not all is bad in the land of Kundera though. His portrayal of the heartbreak of a multitude of characters, caught between freedom and the Prague Spring is quite amazing, as is the way our main character looks upon life. Three stars.
