Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton

1.0

Firstly, there are massive trigger warnings on this book for a reason. Everyone, myself included, ignores them, so read at own risk.

Next, I didn’t finish this. Kindle says I got 38% of the way through.
My reasons for not finishing this didn’t really have to do with the trigger warnings as it turned out, not solely, but rather with the way the two main characters are absolutely the worst people.
When you’re a kid and someone says “that’s hot!” Or “wet paint!” You have a deep need to find out for yourself and Addie constantly needs to jump two feet straight into danger.
The guy’s (I can’t even remember if I knew his name?) personality is murder and consent violations the whole way down.

It’s a fantasy r*pe book. It’s not even dubious consent. It’s outright SA.
There’s no romance or love here.

I could read the “darkness” if she were willing and not coaxed but he actively talks about breaking her psychologically in order to enjoy it.
This book is setting people up to end up in danger.
