High School by Tegan Quin, Sara Quin

emotional reflective medium-paced

This was an incredibly unique memoir with the inclusion of song demos and audio from recordings taken during Tegan and Sara's youth. Between that and the authors reading the book themselves, it felt very personal and intriguing! To an extent, there's only so much high school partying I want to read about so that's why it wasn't my absolute favourite, but overall that didn't detract from how much I enjoyed this memoir. As a music obsessed queer kid growing up in Canada in the early aughts, Tegan and Sara were some of my biggest idols. Despite not following them as much as I've grown up, I still loved hearing the story of how they discovered their sexuality and got into making music.
