After a bad break-up, Laura leaves New York City, and goes to stay with her sister, Rosie, and Rosie’s husband, Joe, back in her hometown of Branson, Connecticut. Laura has always been unlucky in love, constantly haunted by a tragic event from her past. When Laura takes a chance on a blind date from a dating website, but does not return home by the next morning, Rosie worries about what happened the night before.
The novel is told from the alternating perspectives of Laura from the night before, and her sister Rosie in the present day, along with dialogue from Laura’s therapy sessions a few months prior. The book has you questioning who is not what they seem, and what secrets people are hiding. I had previously read and loved Wendy Walker’s newest novel, Don’t Look for Me, and this was another solid thriller that did not disappoint! I look forward to reading Walker’s other novels.
