This Is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar

Beautiful and romantic, although I wish it was a little less confusing!

Love the enemies to lovers dynamic, as usual. The abstract methods of letter-writing the characters use were creative, and I found all the glimpses into the different strands fascinating. The unexpected pop culture references were appreciated as well.

A little more clarity was needed for me - the language was beautiful, but I was only getting the general gist of what was happening. I would frequently come across sentences that were unnecessarily confusing, where a small tweak would have helped me to understand them. There's paragraphs that I would read, realise I didn't understand them at all and have to re-read a couple more times.

I say this about everything, but I wouldn't have said no to this being a tad longer. Just more time spent on the characters and the developing relationship would have sold it more for me. I will definitely re-read this again in the future though. I think I'll appreciate the details moreso than on a first read.
