As a read-aloud, this book was dragging along.  The first person internal dialogue was telling of an inexperienced author, and there just felt like there were many little plot holes that weren’t explained.  However, once we gave up reading it aloud and I was able to sit and read it, I flew through the book and finished it quickly. The plot is fast paced and the plot twist was fun, and reading it internally allowed me to skip over the unnecessary parts and get to the point. Didn’t love the cliffhanger ending because I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue the series, but maybe I will and just not try and read it out loud.  It was also sad to us that the pictures in this book played a different purpose- instead of the characters looking at the pictures, it was more like a picture book. The book described a scene and then showed the picture.  The photographs were still a very fun concept, just different from the first book.
