A Book of Days by Patti Smith

4.0

At first I wasn't sure about this book (and that's a big thing when put in the context that Patti is my favourite famous person, ever) - but something happened as I looked and read through, page by page. I don't know how she does it. I wasn't engaged by every picture, but what I did engage with brought with it a kind of magic that made me appreicate the details of my own life, and of our world, and of all the different eyes looking at it. As with every book of Patti's I feel she's offered yet another piece of herself. What started with slight contempt ("is there really anything on here I couldn't have seen through her instagram?") turned into appreciation of a carefully crafted book that inspires countless new ideas.
