Kindred: A Graphic Novel Adaptation
by Octavia E. Butler
I really enjoyed this book and I found it was a great introduction to Octavia E. Butler's books. The story is so interesting! Dana living with her husband in the late 70s randomly time travels back to a plantation during slavery times. I'm sure the graphic novel may have missed out some parts from the original novel but it has encouraged me to pick it up and explore more of Butler's writing. I'm actually a fan now.
The graphic style was unusual but you get used to it quick. The plot was truly fantastic although hard to read sometimes. Slavery is never easy to write about but you learn that sometimes you have to really feel what actual human beings felt back then. Its so easy to be far removed from your own history.
Can't wait to pick up the next adaptation!
4/5
