The Me I Want to Be: Becoming God's Best Version of You by John Ortberg

5.0

If you are somewhat of a personality profile geek like I am, I think you'll really enjoy this book. If you've taken spiritual gifts inventories and still wonder what God is asking you to do in His kingdom, this may be something that can help you out. Hint: You can start by looking at yourself, but you can't stop there and eventually you need to give that up altogether.

I love Ortberg's books. He has a very conversational tone and addresses all manner of subjects - from more light-hearted to challenging - with humor and warmth. I don 't know if this book is really "amazing", but when I underline and learn and buy the book so I can refer to it and read it again (which I plan to do) and share passages with my husband and children and recommend it to friends and write down quotes in my journal so that I can meditate on them further, it is a 5-star book for me!

As others have mentioned, the "Monvee" website Ortberg refers to a few times in the book is disappointingly not available. But while the website seems as though it would have provided a useful tool, the book certainly stands alone and is a worthwhile read.

Highly recommended!
