This book was just as funny, smart, sweet, and sexy as India Holton’s first trilogy, but I didn’t enjoy the setting quite as much (or maybe it just gave me too many flashbacks to my grad school days). As a former academic (who thankfully escaped), I enjoyed all the jokes about the horrors and joys of scholarship, but I missed the total absurdity and fantasy of the witches/pirates/spies world. I still loved Holton’s sense of humor though and the way the love grew between the protagonists. An enjoyable read overall!
Graphic: Misogyny, Sexism
Moderate: Bullying
Minor: Animal cruelty, Violence, Kidnapping, Toxic friendship
