• There's a running theme of the importance of labor in cities, and the impact that the relationship between classes had on the cities abandonment
• I'm not sure about the argument that cities (will) inevitably get left behind, based on examples that were selected specifically because the were "abandoned." Cities older than Pompeii are still considered worth living in.
