Bitter Truth by Meredith Wild, Jillian Liota

4.0

What a great small-town romance read! I adored Wes, the hero, and was really drawn to his struggles and past/current trauma. I thought he had a lot of layers to him. While Murphy’s character was relatable, the writing of her personality lacked depth at times. She felt very one dimensional through a lot of the book.

The secrets behind why both MCs ended up in Rosewood was a good taunting pull. Wes’ backstory was quite a bit of a shock to me, given it didn’t really match the character we’d been introduced to. Murphy’s I saw a mile away but it was still a reasonable situation for why she felt she needed to return home.

Overall I thought the story was good and the chemistry was on point. I liked the working relationship they had and how it affected the progression of their love life.

Memphis the oldest child was a total ass the entire book and I have low expectations for how he can possibly be redeemed but I really enjoyed the younger brother Micah and I hope he gets his own book…. Mayyyybbeeee with Quinn?
