Description: Bri wants to make it as a rapper. She has her first battle and she goes somewhat viral. What does go viral is her first song. She puts a deeper meaning into her song, but folks don't look into that. Taking snippets out of context, people are coming after Bri left and right. Home isn't any better after her mom is laid off and her brother can't continue onto graduate school since he stays to support them. Will Bri be able to fix her mistakes or will she lose her life over her song?

This was perfection for me and here's why:
- I loved the complexities explored between race, poverty, school, etc. I feel like touched on every issue and made the book feel extremely real.
- The side characters all got to shine and had their distinct personalities.
- The family dynamics were complex and interesting, keeping me engaged every second.
- There is a romance side plot that I loved to see (I wish it was in the movie)
- The conclusion was satisfying but also realistic in my opinion and kept the entire book grounded.

Overall: I think everyone could read this book and enjoy it, but especially if you like hip-hop and other complex contemporary books, you'll love this.
