The fact that Rose left for Dimitri to kill him was something that kind off put me off due to the fact that we wouldn't see the characters as they normally are. Also when Rose finally finds him he was just too out of character. I understand how a Strigoi is much different to a Moroi or a Dhampir but it seemed too out of character for both Dimitri and Strigoi. They're portrayed in the first books as vampires who don't think, they just kill, and now they have a control over themselves and their thoughts. It wasn't as if being a Strigoi was overpowering them, they just liked the rush. Which brings me to Dimitri. When Rose wakes up you would expect something to happen with him but he actually seems to care more than when he was a Dhampir. It may be how he sees life differently but the fact that he wanted to save her was never explained. Not having read the next books, I'm not sure whether it is explained but Dimitri did have qualities of a Strigoi, he just seemed more like what a Strigoi should be before he actually turned.
