Solid 3 stars for me.
I had real trouble getting into the story and only really started enjoying it about 150 pages in. Even then the pacing dragged on a bit, but I was at least invested in the story at that point.
This book made me feel very uncomfortable with all its genuinely horrible and violent characters. The displays sexism and racism almost made me DNF, and I was glad when we started to learn more about the protagonists’ personalities and saw a little less of how badly they were treated by the people around them.
Generally, not a bad story and I did enjoy it after the first hurdle. Really liked the writing style and will definitely give other Karin Slaughter books a go.
