Tell Me a Story: Episode #1 by Tamara Lush

3.0

3.5 stars
The initial concept of this was so cute and fun and fresh, the first half set up for a solid 4 star read but I had some issues as it went on.

The Plot:
This book flew by very fast and it had the nicest meet cute the story brothel and the coloring night were cute contemporary style moments that managed to be original. But then I had a problem. They started dating, and it was very much told and not shown. Like one paragraph would focus on developing their relationship, and then the rest of the chapter would just be elaborate sex scenes. It seemed like the author was more concerned with letting us know that they had a strong physical connection, rather than building them up emotionally.

Characters:

Emma-
Was your average stereotypical romance lady the only non generically details about her that I really loved was that she came from a poor background and her love for books and writing.

Caleb-
Was unf, (just an FYI I pictured him as Nyle DiMarco from ANTM) we didn't get much of a chance to learn his layers as a character. He was kind and had a lot of sex appeal, and his chemistry with Emma was on point but like I said, they didn't focus enough on the emotional in general.

I'm so pissed that I can't remember her name but Emma's friend, I know it begins with an S! - I loved her, she was sassy and didn't take any of Emma's shit and she was gay and I just loved that it would've been so easy to make her straight like every other side friend. And then the fact that she was paired up with the lead man's sister??? I loved it.

Overall-
I sadly was expecting more out of this one, but what I was given I did really enjoy and I'd totally be willing to read further into the series.
