This book is quite possibly everything wrong with YA.
1) First off, it borrows heavily, to say the least, from a late noughts television program which no one watched (Dollhouse)
2) However, it chastens it, makes it boring-- these borrowed bodies aren't for banging the gardner, natch
3) An ill-defined plot/world-building (if I hadn't read the author lived in Southern California, I would be convinced she'd never been to Southern California and she just picked Beverly Hills because people would know where it is and it would do the work for her. It is that bad)
4) Completely unrealistic side characters. She has a brother who is 7 and sounds like he's an adult. There is absolutely no characterization.
5) The absolute hype machine. Goodreads reviews of sample chapters? Say what now?
6) Super problematic terminology and othering of anyone over the age of 25 and anyone who isn't a white American

I received this from Netgalley in an exchange for a review. And I complained about Cinder. I KNOW.
