The Botany of Desire
by Michael Pollan
In the beginning I expected some more information about the actual "desires" the respective plants fulfill. What I got instead were little portraits of topics closely related to the plants.
In the end I did enjoy those unexpected insights into Johnny Appleseed, Tulipomania, growing Marihuana, and GMO-potatoes.
I didn't get a lot on the desires of plants but I realised once more how important growing, harvesting, and seed saving is. So go and plant a better world, one that won't go to shreds once Monsanto's latest patent runs out.
